Ind-Tech Supports SpecialEffect Charity

With the TwinTown18 weekend fundraiser behind us our Managing Director Francis has been left with a strong impression of how important SpecialEffect Charity is to the people who are supported by the SpecialEffect team. This week Francis visited their HQ to speak with Dr Mick Donegan and find out more about how the funds raised at TwinTown18 will help over the next 12 months.

Ind-Tech are committed to helping SpecialEffect Charity moving forward and we’re generating lots of ideas for how to we continue to fundraise over the next year. If you haven’t heard of SpecialEffect and the amazing work they do with people with physical disabilities and enhancing their lives through gaming, please visit their website to find out more.

Twin Town 2018

May 2018 marked the first year that Ind-Tech have taken part in the Twin Town 2018 Challenge.

The Twin Town Challenge is a fun charity car rally. We bought a £500 banger and pimped our ride in a theme called Apocalypse Cow. Then over Spring Bank Holiday weekend we embarked on an epic road trip.

The route goes from Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire to Witney’s twin town, Le Touquet in northern France. Along the way we took on challenges and the occasional lap of a circuit.

The Twin Town 2018 Challenge wasn’t just about a fun weekend. The primary objective was to raise money for a very brilliant charity: SpecialEffect. By using adaptive technology, they’re bringing a new lease of life to people with physical disabilities through communication, creativity and video games.

To date the Twin Town Challenge has raised over £450,000 to support this fantastic cause.

We haven’t finished fundraising yet but so far we have raised several thousand pounds and we plan to continue as we haven’t sold our car yet.

Our next stop is Witney Carnival where you’ll find us with our car – come along and say Hi!

Meeting the Mayor of Witney

Our Directors, Francis and Gavin, got to meet the Mayor of Witney at the start of the TwinTown18 weekender in May. It was an honour for them to meet Brenda Churchill, who was happy to pose for photos with our fancy-dress clad TwinTown team before they set off to Le Touquet, France, to raise money for local gaming charity Special Effect.

The Issue

The stores team at this car plant were picking parts one handed while holding a PDA which resulted in slow processing and several damages due to dropping.

The Solution

Ind-Tech designed, manufactured and added bespoke PDA holders to stores trolleys, enabling the stores team to pick quickly and safely with both hands, and minimising damage through accidentally dropping the units.

“The adapted trolleys have enabled the processing of 20% more parts per shift, saving hundreds of pounds and reducing costly equipment damage.” NC. Stores Manager.

The Issue

Wall mounted gun holders at this car plant were damaging the guns when stored, after their operation, and the guns were also not stored in their holder properly so droppages were causing lots of damage to the guns.

The Solution

Ind-Tech modified the length of the holders and lined them with nylon as a sacrificial lining, preventing  the guns from falling out and being damaged when returned to the holders.

“The simple modifications suggested and implemented by Ind-Tech saved us hundreds of pounds of downtime for costly replacements.”  PP. Lead Engineer
